WORLD CHRISTIAN ENCYCLOPEDIA | ||||
Data source, edited by David B. Barrett (Oxford University Press 1982). The core of this work is a country-by-country analysis of religions, not limited to Christianity, around the world. Each country section includes a chart detailing the distribution of religious affiliation and practice as well as affiliational trends through time. An essay about each nation contains sections on the state of Christianity, non-Christian religions, church-state relations, interdenominational organizations, and religious broadcasting. The work also contains several global tables, a religious dictionary, an atlas (in which a number of religious variables are depicted in graphic form), a “Who’s Who in the Christian World,” and an annotated listing of religious organizations. Also included is an essay on the growth of world Christianity in the twentieth century. -Ted G. Jelen
